They choose to set up a long-term cooperation with Orange who was interested in developing some new but most of all valuable services for their current telecom customers.

Project Goal

Publio.pl and Orange wanted to prepare a brand new mobile application with a working title: “Orange Reading Room” enabling readers to access books and magazines in a fast and comfortable way. App should have full Publio’s list of titles and special offers. Customers should download the application on tablets and smartphones than integrate it with their phone number.

Customising the Publio platform goal was to enable an easy access to e-books, audiobooks as well as magazines for Orange customers. Easy to use also meant easy payments, that’s why Orange reading room users shouldn’t be worried about using any extra payment method like a credit card or PayPal account in the new application.

Roles in the project

  • Orange – End Client
  • Publio – End Client
  • Better Software Group (JojoMobile) – responsible for the UI/UX of the new product for mobile application delivery and backed development.

General Problem

Orange wanted to open new services, easily accessible by their Customers to make the current offer more attractive. Avoiding unnecessary payment steps has become the core issue of the project and influenced a UX and UI designing process in a very significant way. The deadline was very tight because Orange had put a great pressure to the shortest time-to-market as possible.

playerProblems solved in the project

  • brand new interfaces created on the base of Publio app
  • unique material design carries on with hottest graphic designs trends
  • implementing Publio authors audiobook player
  • advanced details of books displayed with the maximum of clarity

What we have learned

  • rebuilding ready-existing solutions doesn’t mean that we need to only replace graphic designs
  • it is worth to refresh the core code of the app from time to time
  • every software gets older, even the best one

Solution

Orange application consists of two main elements: e-book reader and e-commerce shop. By the Orange reading room, you can access and buy e-books, audiobooks, magazines, and e-press. Thanks to our authors e-book reader users can not only read books inside the app but also can add their own e-books to read. The application has Kindle integration that let you to automatically launch Kindle for the e-books ordered by Reading Room.

What was achieved

Cutting edge e-book library with the UX and the UI as the strongest point of the app. The highest possible user-friendly level of functionalities and navigation. Payments integrated with Orange customers subscription plans, so all purchases made in the Reading Room will be automatically added to monthly subscription plan of User’s Orange services like mobile calls subscription plan, internet subscription as well as line rental plan.  The application is accessible on Tablets and supports sales process of other Orange services.
